Introduction

Cologne Concert Brass (CCB) is a brass band according to the traditional britisch brass band setup. The band is part of a small (but growing) brass band scene and is situated in Cologne, Germany.

The band was formed in the autumn of 1997 as a Cologned brass band project under the musical direction of Martyn Bennett. The project was initially planned to last one year, ending with a single concert. However, soon it became apparant that this was unrealistic and the fundament for the future was made. In 1999, Cologne Concert Brass was registered.

Since 1997, Cologne Concert Brass has focussed on continuesly changing and expanding its repertoire, offering their audience interesting concert programs with challenging original works, test pieces, but also with light music.

Today, Cologne Concert Brass is a respected mature german brass band, with a very international list of players. Since 2004, the band has been conducted by Heinrich Schmidt, one of the most experienced brass band conductors of Germany, who has done a tremendous amount of work to bring the band to its current status.

Cologne Concert Brass aims to give ambitious musicians in the Cologne area a chance to excersise their musical skills and love for music on a high level. To support this further, Young CCB was formed in 2007. Young CCB offers young or inexperienced players to play together in an ensemble and to further develop their musical skills. Young CCB welcomes all musically interested people that wish to learn or play a brass instrument.
